Biography: Early Life
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (official name Johannes Chysostomus Wolfgangus Teophilus Mozart) was born on January 27, 1756 at 8:00 p.m. in Salzburg, Vienna. He lived on the third floor of 9 Getreidegasse Street with his father, Leopold, mother, Anna Maria, and sister, Maria Anna (Nannerl). Wolfgang's sister, whom he was very inspired by, was a pianist.

When Wolfgang was three years old, he crawled up towards the harpsichord, stood on the bench, and played major thirds.Leoplold was very astonished, and began to gave him lessons. He soon was so dedicated to teaching Wolfgang he gave up all his other students and focussed on only him.

Now with two child prodigies, Leopold decided the children were ready to preform publicly. In 1762, Leopold, Wolfgang, and Nannerl went on a long tour all around Europe. It is now known as the 'Grand Tour.'

The two children performed for four years, both together and seperately. Although they were very succesful and received many invitations, the trip was not very enjoyable. All three members got very sick and Wolfgang caught smallpox.
